In the time of Covid-19, heroes have emerged all around us. And we suspect that, when the dust settles, they are going to be in serious need of a holiday.
Your "hero" can be anyone who helps keep your community safe and smiling in these turbulent times, from a frontline healthcare worker to your local delivery driver to the friend who arranges the best virtual quizzes. Simply tell us their story and we will enter them into the competition.
Important: Please note that the winner will be chosen at random from the selection of entries. The prize will not go to the person who "deserves it most", so please simply nominate the person you see fit. This is about spreading goodwill and appreciation - every entry deserves it in our eyes.
NOMINATE YOUR HERO
My best friend Liz is the head chef in a large secondary school. Since the closure of school, she has single-handed run her the kitchen to feed the key worker children, vulnerable children and staff, that have been in school. She also makes and delivers meals to families who most need it. On top of this, she has moved out of the safety, security and comfort of her own home to protect her parents who live with her. She has worked through the school holidays and has given up so much to help and protect others. She is my hero, and I am proud to call her my friend.
Sue is a high school French teacher and also a high-risk individual, having to move all her teaching to online platforms. After a long career of much more traditional teaching methods technology is not intuitive at all for her and it does not come easy. It takes hours more time and effort (and frustration!) for her to create virtual lessons, but she continues to build the interesting and engaging classes her students are used to, persisting despite her technology illiteracy.
Alex is my local postman who has always worked hard to get to know the people he delivers to. Since the lockdown he has been a source of cheer for a lot of the vulnerable in our community, sometimes being the sole friendly face that we see in the day. His positivity is a constant source of comfort.
Natalie is an unseen hero, getting through all this while also supporting me as I have to go out and do essential work. As a political journalist, I'm a key worker; Natalie is my partner and exposed to any risk I bring back home with me. She can’t risk visiting her parents or any friends (even from a safe social distance) but is also stuck at home alone while I’m out working. It can be lonely and must be hard for her.
We don't want to make things too complicated but of course, there are a few T&C's. As a small independent company, we will be absolutely flexible where possible. We ask kindly that you only put forward a genuine nomination for this competition (only one nomination per person).
The prize entitles the winner to a holiday to Asia with Experience Travel Group for two people. The total value of the prize is approximately £5,000. The holiday will be organised by us and is not changeable, except for the dates. The travel period will be March to November 2021 (excluding Easter Holidays). The holiday will include flights, two hotels (5 night stays in each), transfers and experiences. The holiday must be booked by 31st December 2020. It is not redeemable for cash and can not be transferred or exchanged.
Entries must be submitted by 31st August 2020. The draw will take place on 1st September 2020 and we will announce the winner by email within 48 hours. We will kindly ask the winner of the holiday to give written confirmation of their role during the COVID crisis. If the prize is unclaimed we will do a redraw. You will have 48 hours to claim your prize.
