Walk-throughs on our latest initiative
l
For years, we have been nurturing the idea of making our holidays “tip-inclusive” – that is to say, including a tip for guides, drivers and other experience providers in the cost of the trip.
We knew this would make our holidays fairer for the client, because you would receive an upfront quote that better reflects the actual price of the holiday, with no hidden costs. It would make for a better experience in-country, as it removes potential awkwardness between the client and the experience provider and paves the way for exchanges that are reciprocal, not transactional. Plus, it would give our guides security that they would receive a fair wage for their services.
What clinched it was when we asked a select pool of our wonderful clients what they made of the idea, and you were overwhelmingly in favour (around 80%). We then asked our guides what they felt about it, and even more of them - around 90% - were convinced.
So now, we’ve done the groundwork to make it happen.
It’s a big step: no other mainstream tour operator offers tipping-inclusive holidays. The tipping process is traditionally left to the client’s discretion which, for many travellers, leads to awkwardness, doubt and a sense of unease.
